A place to recharge your batteries... literally

Crystal Mountain Resort & Spa has long been known as a place where one can, “recharge their batteries,” but that’s taken on a more literal meaning now as it becomes the first Michigan resort to install an Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station.

The EV charging station, which can service two vehicles simultaneously, is located in the village core across from the Scottish-style Kinlochen lodge which houses the resort’s Thistle Pub & Grille, Pro-Shop and condominiums. The charging station is complimentary to resort overnight and day guests. The installation comes on the heals of General Motors’ recent announcement that production of the Chevy Volt is resuming at three times last year’s rate.

“Our guests drive from across the Midwest and Canada and we anticipate electric vehicles will be a prominent part of our future,” says Jim MacInnes, Crystal Mountain CEO. “It’s exciting because these vehicles not only have a positive impact on our energy security and the environment but hold tremendous economic potential for Michigan.”

Crystal Mountain has a strong reputation for environmental stewardship and promoting sustainable practices. Jim MacInnes was among the first in northern Michigan to own a Chevy Volt. He is able to make the round trip from home and work (33 miles) on a single charge at the rate of approximately $1.00.
