All a 'Twitter' about the Michigan Beer & Brat Festival

web designer - Tuesday, May 24, 2011

There are some things in this world that are so inherently good that they become exceedingly difficult to improve upon. I offer as Exhibit A: Beer and Exhibit B: Brats. When these two summer staples are the foundation on which you build a festival, how can you go wrong? Now in its sixth year at Crystal Mountain, the Michigan Beer & Brat Festival, Saturday, May 28 (2-9pm), offers the best suds and sausage from across the state but always with a few new twists.

A Social Gathering

Use hashtag #MIBBF on Twitter (@CrystalMountain) and click 'Like' on the Crystal Mountain Facebook page to share your experience and recommend your favorite beer and brats. Follow closely because we’ll be tweeting and posting offers for FREE tokens, t-shirts and other prizes to festival-goers throughout the event!

A Pint of Planning

How great would it be to have your tickets, tokens and pint glasses waiting when you arrive? All three can be purchased online this year until noon on Saturday, May 28 with pick-up at Will Call on the day of the event. Here’s the link: http://bit.ly/jO165O

The First Pour

At least two breweries are saving a first pour for Crystal Mountain. Short’s Brewing (@shortsbrewing) will be making its inaugural pour of Nicie Spicie for the summer season. Arbor Brewing (@ArborBrew) will debut its brand new Mackinac Island Fudge Stout. In total, over 15 breweries from across Michigan will be represented at this year’s festival (each bringing 3-5 beers) including Short’s, Right Brain and North Peak who were recently rated as Traverse Magazine’s Red Hot Best Breweries in Northern Michigan.

Want Not, Waste Not

This year the Michigan Beer & Brat Festival will be a zero-waste event. All plates, utensils and napkins will be compostable and collected by Bay Area Recycling for Charities. Glasses will be available for beer sampling or even better, pick up a commemorative pint glass for $3 - two for $5.

Hope you’ll join us this Memorial Day Weekend to raise a glass to the start of summer. Cheers!
