Oncology Massage

Cancer patients and survivors face many challenges; one of the most common is living with pain during and after treatment. Massage techniques have been developed that help Licensed Massage Therapists (LMT) to work safely and effectively with many cancer patients to reduce pain.

Studies have shown that oncology patients may experience these benefits from massage:
• Decrease in pain and anxiety
• Reduced nausea, insomnia, depression and “pins and needles” feeling in hands and feet
• Increased mind / body connection and overall sense of well-being

Crystal Spa’s Oncology Massage Therapists are trained in Oncology Massage by the Beaumont Integrative Medicine Department, School of Oncology*. Guests with any history of cancer will be scheduled for an Oncology Massage with one of our trained Oncology Massage Therapists.

If you are currently receiving treatment for cancer or have a history of cancer, please request an Oncology Trained therapist when scheduling your appointment.

Oncology Massage

Oncology Massage is intended to lessen the side effects of cancer and cancer treatment by helping the guest to rest and lessen the effects of pain, anxiety and stress. During this specialized session the therapist will spend at least ten minutes reviewing the guest’s cancer history and specific needs prior to the approximately 40 or 70 minute massage. Actual in-take and massage time will vary based on the type of cancer and treatment history. This is a light to moderate pressure massage; deep tissue is not recommended. We recommend guests consult with their physician prior to receiving Oncology Massage.

50 minute session, $99
80 minute session, $139

*Beaumont’s program is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). Massage therapy can be done in conjunction with most general cancer care.

An 18% adjustable gratuity and 2% service charge will be added to all spa services.
