| Enjoy art beyond museum walls in the serene natural environment of the Michigan Legacy Art Park! Six kilometers of hiking trails lead visitors through the densely wooded 30-acre park within Crystal Mountain. The Art Park features over 35 sculptures, poetry stones, an outdoor amphitheatre, and a summer concert series. Each of the sculptures interprets, in its own way, a piece of Michigan's history. The Michigan Legacy Art Park is visited by an estimated 20,000 people annually. The Art Park is open year-round from dawn to dusk, and is accessible by foot, cross-country skis or even snowshoes. Admission is $3 per person or $10 per family. Additions to the Art Park’s collection are selected through artist applications that are reviewed by a jury. Artist David Barr founded the Michigan Legacy Art Park in 1995. He envisioned the Art Park as a place where "artists could tell the story of Michigan through the fundamental materials of nature” while connecting man to nature, nature to man, and transcending those boundaries without disturbing the balance. Crystal Mountain owners Jim and Chris MacInnes and the Petritz family embrace Barr’s vision and donate use of the site as well as support services to the artistic cause. Michigan Legacy Art Park is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. To learn more about the organization and its membership, donor, and volunteer opportunities, please visitwww.michlegacyartpark.org. |
