A Wintery Mix of Local Foods

Second Annual Taste the Local Difference Event at Crystal Mountain

THOMPSONVILLE, MI - Just because it's winter, doesn't mean there isn't an abundance of local foods here in northern Michigan. To that point, Crystal Mountain, along with The Michigan Land Use Institute, will be hosting the second annual Taste the Local Difference Winter Celebration on Saturday, March 16 at Crystal Mountain's Crystal Center. The event features local foods from more than two dozen farmers and producers. In addition, some of northern Michigan's favorite chefs will be on hand to prepare dished using these local ingredients and to offer suggestions on how to use more local foods year round.

The Winter Celebration will be just one part of a Monster Weekend at Crystal Mountain that also features the Teddy Knape Film Festival, Crystal Mountain's Spring Fling complete with Slush Cup, Cardboard Classic sled racing, a silent disco, and luau.

To help blend the various events happening indoors and out, a variety of food trucks will be parked at the base of the ski hill so you'll be able to enjoy local foods without loosening your ski boots.

The Winter Celebration begins at 4pm and runs till 7pm on the top level of the Crystal Center. For more information, visit the Taste the Local Difference Winter Celebration in the Events section of our website.
