Make Some Turns and Make a Difference
THOMPSONVILLE, MICH – For the second year, skiers at Crystal Mountain can enjoy $5 off an all-day lift ticket when they bring a non-perishable food item for BACN. And they’ll enjoy knowing they’ve made a difference in someone’s life.
Last year, Benzie Area Christian Neighbors helped more than 1500 families through its food pantry. That number will likely climb to above 1600 this coming year, and the need for food is especially strong in winter, when people often are forced to choose between groceries and utility bills.
Crystal Mountain and BACN make it possible to Make Some Turns and Make a Difference over two weekends this month: December 14-16 and 21-23. Donations will be accepted from 9am till noon each day with donors receiving a voucher good for $5 off an all day lift ticket.
“Last year we saw tremendous support for BACN and we’re looking forward to making a difference this year,” says Rick Schmitt, VP of Sales and Marketing for Crystal Mountain. “It’s a great opportunity to share in the holiday spirit, to help our neighbors, and to enjoy some of the beauty of Benzie County all at the same time.”
Dave Abeel, BACN’s Director of Development says, “Each box of food is worth about $50 and will feed a family of 4 for about 3 days. Our goal is to generate enough food to fill the BACN pantry for a month.”
BACN is a non-denominational 501(c)3 charity providing food, clothing, household goods and financial assistance to families in need throughout Benzie and Northern Manistee counties. Visit www.benizebacn.org or call 231-882-9544 for information or volunteer opportunities.
