Fall in love with autumn activities at Crystal Mountain

October 4, 2021

THOMPSONVILLE, Mich. (October 4, 2021) – The crisp, cool air is moving in for another spectacular season at Crystal Mountain. From mountain biking and hiking to scenic chairlift rides and the Alpine Slide, there is no shortage of fall fun for the whole family.

“Scenic chairlift rides are certainly one of the most popular fall activities we have here at Crystal Mountain,” Recreation Manager Jen Roberts said. “People of all ages are left in awe at the top of the mountain as they look over miles of bright orange, scarlet and gold leaves stretching across three counties. It’s something you truly have to see in person.”

A scenic chairlift ride is just one of the many activities people can enjoy on Fall Fun Saturdays in October. Other activities include:

  • Bike Rental
  • Disc Golf
  • Fall Sand Art
  • Surrey Rides
  • Edge Adventure Course
  • Vertical Edge Climbing Wall
  • Alpine Slide
  • Archery
  • Archery Tag
  • Outdoor Laser Tag
  • Wagon Rides
  • Mountain Bike Color Tour

Plus, every Saturday in October you have the opportunity to give back to the community by volunteering to take part in the Michigan Legacy Art Park Stewardship Days. The Art Park is a non-profit organization with approximately two miles of trail and more than 50 sculptures, so it takes a team effort to clean up the trail and clear around the artwork. Then on Oct. 10, join Naturalist and Tour Guide Caitlin Chism for a special guided Fall Color Tour through the Art Park

Along with weekly activities, Crystal Mountain has a long list of events catered to the changing seasons. Be one of the first to test out our bike trails for the 2022 summer season during our Gravity Trails Sneak Peek. Ride six new trails, plus a jump line and northern Michigan's longest log ride on Oct. 16.

Meet one of Crystal’s talented property owners, Author Charles T. Kraus. Mr. Kraus will tell about the research he did for his first book Thompsonville in Time and answer any questions at his book signing event on Oct. 14 at Weldon Township Hall.

Warm up and wind down by taking advantage of our popular Crystal Spa Days Oct. 17 - Nov. 24, or treat yourself to a two-hour Amenity Pass on Mondays and Tuesdays. All services and the amenity pass include access to the steam room, sauna, hot tub, relaxation lounge, indoor pool and fitness center at our award-winning Crystal Spa.

The 15th Annual Founders Peak2Peak Mountain Bike Classic returns to the mountain Oct. 23. Riders will journey through hardwood and pine forests on two-track and single-track before crossing the finish line near the base of the slopes.

Gear up for winter at the Crystal Mountain Ski Swap Oct. 30. Sell or buy used ski or snowboard equipment from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. 25% of the proceeds benefit three local high school ski teams and the Crystal Community Ski Club.

Reservations for most fall activities and events, as well as golf and lodging, can be done online. Online reservations for scenic chairlift rides are highly encouraged. Also, check out our Fall Color Friday meter on our Facebook and Instagram to get an idea of where the fall colors stand.
