Crystal Mountain names PR Director

December 17, 2019

THOMPSONVILLE, Mich. (Dec. 16, 2019) – Crystal Mountain has named long-time communications professional Sammie Lukaskiewicz as its Public Relations director. She started at the resort Monday.

“We’re excited to welcome Sammie to the Crystal Mountain family,” Chris MacInnes, president, said. “She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge working with all kinds of media, as well as promoting tourism and big events.”

Sammie Lukaskiewicz Lukaskiewicz, 49, has worked for the State of Michigan since January 2017, promoting talent and career opportunities as part of the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity.

Prior to that, she was a NASCAR publicist for 16 years at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., and later at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Mich.

In her time at MIS, she assisted local, statewide and national media with their coverage of the venue’s NASCAR events, but also promoted Faster Horses country music festival, a wine and beer fest and the Michigan high school cross country championships, to name a few. She also served as a member of the Michigan Travel Commission.

“Crystal Mountain is a special, year-round destination that goes beyond simply being a beautiful place to ski and golf,” she said. “It truly is about family vacation traditions and showcasing Michigan with world-class events and conferences. It is a meaningful part of the lives of residents and tourists alike year-round. Crystal Mountain is the very best of Pure Michigan, and I am pinching myself that I get to be a part of the team.”

Lukaskiewicz earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Texas at El Paso and a master’s degree in management from Webster University in St. Louis.

She lives in Manistee, Mich., with her husband, Bill, a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel.

Established in 1956, Crystal Mountain is a family-owned, four season resort destination located 28 miles southwest of Traverse City and a short drive from Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The resort features lodging, dining, downhill and cross-country skiing, two championship golf courses, award-winning Crystal Spa, Michigan’s only alpine slide, the Park at Water’s Edge, Michigan Legacy Art Park, weddings and a conference center for meetings, conferences and banquets.
