Snowshoeing
Snowshoeing is permitted on all Crystal Mountain property except the downhill slopes and cross-country trails. Michigan Legacy Art Park is also a beautiful snowshoe destination. Guests are welcome to snowshoe throughout the Art Park until the upper trails are groomed for cross-country skiing. Once trails are groomed, guest are allowed to snowshoe between the Art Park trailhead and the outdoor amphitheater, with over 20 sculptures viewable.
Requirements
- Parent or guardian will need to sign a waiver for participants under the age of 18.
- Be prepared to snowshoe. Your rental begins when payment is complete. Dress in layers, as snowshoeing is an excellent workout! We recommend moisture wicking layers under athletic wear.
- Wear appropriate footwear. Snowshoes work best for boots with a rubber sole. Fashion style boots may have difficulty keeping snowshoes from slipping. Tennis shoes or hiking boots will get wet. Ski and snowboard boots will not fit in a snowshoe.
Hours of Operation
Available daily* during day-time hours. Rentals are available beginning at 9am on a first-come, first served basis. Last rentals will be approximately one-hour before sunset.

Snowshoe Rentals
Available at the Park at Water's Edge on a first-come, first-serve basis. Limited quantities available. Geared for ages 3+. Stop in or call 231-378-2238.
Cost: $15 per hour
Snow Paws Rental (ages 3-5): $5 per rental, per hour.
Guided Snowshoe Hike
Tour Crystal Mountain's rolling, wooded terrain via snowshoe! Guides may be available with at least 48-hour notice and a minimum of four participants. Additional guides may be required based upon party size. Guide fees are $50 per guide, per hour. Minimum age recommendation for a guided hike is 7+ years old.
Snowshoe activities are weather permitting. Subject to minimum participation. Parental supervision is required.
