A snowy start to spring with traditional and new warm-weather events on deck

THOMPSONVILLE, Mich. (March 20, 2026) – In true northern Michigan fashion, Crystal Mountain is kicking off the spring season with a lot of snow on the slopes and plenty of warm-weather activities and events on deck. This seasonal transition is the perfect time to visit Crystal Mountain, as the resort offers a unique sense of calm and quiet experiences before the summer fun officially begins.

"Not only is spring a beautiful time of year in northern Michigan, with the budding trees and emerging wildlife, but it’s a slower time for travel, which really allows people to connect with themselves and nature before a busy summer season,” said Brittney Primeau, Director of Communications. “Whether guests are here for the last run on the mountain, the first round of golf, or a stroll through Michigan Legacy Art Park, Crystal is the perfect basecamp for spring adventure.”

The Winter Finale

The spring season kicks off with Spring Break at the slopes (March 21 – April 5). Beginning March 22, guests can save 25% on lodging through the end of the season. The transition is marked by the final two "March at the Mountain" Saturdays of the season:

  • March 21 (Celts & Kayaks): St. Paddy’s celebrations continue featuring kayak races on the slopes, skiing leprechauns, and an Irish-inspired slopeside meal.
  • March 28 (Retro Day): A celebration of vintage gear, a slopeside DJ, and traditional slopeside BBQ.
  • Easter Weekend (April 3-5): The final weekend for skiing and riding includes an Easter buffet, photos with the Bunny, and an egg plunge in the indoor pool. Plus, 25% off lodging.

April Avalanche

As the snow recedes, the adventure shifts. On April 11, the April Avalanche Hike & Tube returns with four tubing lanes and a new Hike Park and Rail Jam on the Loki slope complex. For golfers, the Mountain Ridge course—recently named Michigan Course of the Year—and the Betsie Valley course are currently taking tee time bookings as early as April 10 (weather dependent).

May is a Month of Wellness

Rejuvenation takes center stage with Crystal Spa Days (May 1 – June 14), just in time for Mother’s Day. Select professional services, including hydrating facials and tranquil massages, start at just $125.

“Guests are invited to elevate their wellness experience by enjoying our spa amenities before and after their service,” said Stephanie Scott, VP of Retail and Wellness. “There’s nothing like the outdoor mosaic hot tub garden or the eucalyptus steam room to provide those essential finishing touches to the experience.”

For those seeking adrenaline, the inaugural Crystal Rush Mountain Bike Race debuts on May 9. This flagship stop for the Boundless Grand Prix introduces XCO-style action to Michigan, with cyclists competing for over $2,500 in prizes.

Memorial Day Weekend

The first day of summer isn’t until June 21, but the unofficial kick-off is Memorial Day Weekend (May 22-24.) Tickets are on sale now for the 19th Annual Michigan Beer and Brat Festival, featuring specialty brats from northwest meat markets and Michigan-made beer, hard cider, mead, wine, and spirits from new and well-known breweries and other beverage outlets from across the state. Live entertainment on the slopeside mainstage kicks off with the popular Jedi Mind Trip, followed by the high-octane energy of The RockShow Band.

The holiday weekend also marks the season debut of popular summer activities, including the outdoor pool, water playground, adventure course, and Michigan’s only dual alpine slide. Shoppers can also take advantage of a massive Ski and Boot Blowout Sale in Barr Park, alongside sidewalk sales near the Mountain Market, Kinlochen Shop, and Peak Boutique.
