THOMPSONVILLE, Mich. – Fall is in full swing at Crystal Mountain, bringing crisp air, colorful scenery and plenty of opportunities to enjoy northern Michigan before the winter weather settles in. From scenic chairlift rides and mountain biking to golf and family-friendly activities, there’s no shortage of ways to experience the season at the four-season resort.
One of the best ways to take in the changing colors is from above on a Scenic Chairlift Ride. The peaceful ride aboard the Buck Quad Chairlift offers panoramic views of the rolling hills and fall foliage stretching across four counties. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing afternoon, a photographer’s vantage point or a memorable family outing, the ride offers a unique perspective on autumn in northern Michigan. Scenic Chairlift Rides are offered Saturdays and Sundays throughout October, with select hours each weekend.
For those who prefer to explore from the ground, Crystal Mountain’s 12+ miles of bike trails wind through the property and surrounding woods. Visitors can also take a stroll through the Michigan Legacy Art Park, enjoy the crisp autumn air on one of the resort’s 36 holes of championship golf, or take a thrilling ride down the Crystal Coaster Alpine Slide.
All of these activities, along with pumpkin carving, a scarecrow walk, fall sand art, archery, laser tag and more, are part of Fall Fun Weekends, taking place October 10-11, 17-18, 24-25 and 31. The fall weekends offer activities for all ages, with select attractions and events available on specific dates.
“Fall at Crystal Mountain is really about getting outside and enjoying the season before the snow arrives,” said Lourin Sprenger, Director of Communications at Crystal Mountain. “Whether you’re riding the chairlift, exploring the trails, enjoying a round of golf or bringing the family for Fall Fun Weekend, there’s something special about experiencing northern Michigan in autumn.”
Day visitors are welcome to purchase tickets for individual activities, while resort houseguests and Four Seasons Club Members receive complimentary access to select amenities and activities. Fall is also an ideal time to plan a getaway, with a variety of discounted lodging options available throughout the season.
The 19th Annual Peak2Peak Mountain Bike Classic will take place on Oct. 17, bringing cyclists to Crystal Mountain and the surrounding Betsie River Pathway for a race through hardwood and pine forests, winding two-track and flowing single-track trails.
For those looking to combine fitness and the outdoors, Ruck the Mountain, presented by Aevitas Medical, returns Oct. 23-25. The rugged 6-mile course takes participants across Crystal Mountain’s property, featuring both flat terrain and steep inclines. The weekend focuses on health, community and completing the course.
