remembering FISHER

our first k-9 ambassador

Fisher was Crystal Mountain’s first K-9 Ambassador and was loved by all who met him. He greeted guests at check-in, taste tested the ice cream at the Beach House, and checked the conditions out on the slopes – and it was all caught on camera by his owner and Crystal Mountain Realty Agent, Jeff Rabidoux. See Fisher's life journey through Instagram  @resortk9.

About Fisher

Fisher was born August 12, 2012 and passed away on July 22, 2022 from a hard fought battle with cancer. He was part of a litter of 14 puppies and was named after Fisher Lake in Glen Arbor, where Jeff and his wife Katie live. They knew Fisher would spend much of his life swimming in the calm waters of their little lake. Read more about Fisher’s legacy at Crystal Mountain »

Morris Animal Foundation Golden Retriever Lifetime Study

Fisher was also a participant in the Morris Animal Foundation Golden Retriever Lifetime Study. This study is the largest, most comprehensive prospective canine health study in the United States. The study’s purpose is to identify the nutritional, environmental, lifestyle and genetic risk factors for cancer and other diseases in dogs. Each year, with the help of veterinarians and dog owners, the Foundation collects health, environmental and behavioral data on 3,000+ enrolled golden retrievers. Golden Retrievers were chosen for the study since they have the highest incidence of cancer among all dog breeds. Hopefully, the knowledge gained through the study will benefit not only dogs, but humans as well.
