our k-9 ambassador
Meet Crystal Mountain's newest K-9 Ambassador, Fisher! He loves to greet our guests at the Inn at the Mountain lobby or during his daily walks with his owner and Crystal Mountain Realty Agent, Jeff Rabidoux.
Fisher was born August 12, 2012 as part of a litter of 14 puppies. He's named after Fisher Lake in Glen Arbor, where Jeff and his wife Katie live. They knew Fisher would spend much of his life swimming in the calm waters of their little lake.
Fisher began obedience training early through “Puppy School” and worked his way through the “Super Advanced” class. He then passed the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test, all before the age of two.
Morris Animal Foundation Golden Retriever Lifetime Study
Fisher is also a participant in the Morris Animal Foundation Golden Retriever Lifetime Study. This study is the largest, most comprehensive prospective canine health study in the United States. The study’s purpose is to identify the nutritional, environmental, lifestyle and genetic risk factors for cancer and other diseases in dogs. Each year, with the help of veterinarians and dog owners, the Foundation collects health, environmental and behavioral data on 3,000+ enrolled golden retrievers. Golden Retrievers were chosen for the study since they have the highest incidence of cancer among all dog breeds. Hopefully, the knowledge gained through the study will benefit not only dogs, but humans as well.
