September 28, 2021
THOMPSONVILLE, Mich. (September 28, 2021) – Crystal Mountain has named long-time human resources professional Jennifer King as its Vice President of Human Resources. She officially joined the team full time on Monday.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer to our Crystal Mountain family,” John Melcher, COO of Crystal Mountain, said. “Her extensive experience in human resources, hospitality and business makes her a great addition to our executive team. We’ve known Jennifer for many years and have always been impressed with her strong communication, organizational and analytical skills.”
For the last 13 years, King was the Vice President of human resources and General Manager of guest experience at Michigan’s iconic Grand Hotel. During the busiest season, she was responsible for staffing up to 700 people for the hotel, including international hiring from 26 countries.
“I have recruited students for various training programs from Thailand, Philippines, the UK, Ireland, Czech Republic, South Africa, Indonesia, Bulgaria and Poland,” King said. “These programs brought students to the USA to learn about American hospitality and take their knowledge and skills back to their country.”
Prior to the Grand, King worked for the Mackinac Island Community Foundation, French Outpost, Inc., Mission Point Resort, and several Marriott properties within Interstate Hotels Corporation.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Crystal Mountain team,” King said. “This is a beautiful property with so much to offer in all four seasons. I look forward to doing my part in exceeding expectations for our staff, guests and property owners.”
King has always had ties to northern Michigan and now calls Traverse City home. She and her husband Kirby, who serves as the Director of Building Engineering at Crystal, have three rescue dogs and two adult children.
